Ver O Peso mostra cultura viva do norte do país
Às margens da baía do Guajará, há um destino tradicional de alimentos e ervas medicinais que divide espaço com edifícios históricos e um mercado ao ar livre, que é um dos cartões-postais da cidade de Belém, capital paraense. Uma feira livre que oferece os mais variados sabores e aromas do Norte do país e cuja efervescência ganha destaque em documentário de 21 minutos do multiartista pernambucano Carlos Vasconcelos que registrou o cotidiano vibrante deste que é um dos ambientes populares mais icônicos do Brasil. “Este mercado público é mais do que uma grande celebração da arquitetura de ferro, pois ela pulsa com um comercio e com uma movimentação em seu redor em sobre tendas vende-se de tudo desde gêneros alimentícios, artesanato até especiarias típicas da região que atraem uma população que gera uma economia com sua marca ‘ver o peso’. É um universo que impressiona pela conjuntura social, econômica, artesanal, cultural e arquitetônica”, destaca Vasconcelos, que teve a ideia de desenvolver a produção após recebe viagem ao Pará.
Este belo mercado público de Belém do Pará, chamado simplesmente Ver-o-Peso, foi fundado em 1625 e inicialmente era tido como Casa de Haver o Peso, onde funcionava posto de fiscalização da coroa portuguesa dos produtos comercializados na região, no século XVII. Enfatizando toda efervescência do povo do Pará com as atividades do Mercado de Peixes, que começam à noite e varam a madrugada até sua maior movimentação às 6h da manha, o Mercado Municipal Bolonha de Peixe, ou Ver-o-Peso é uma construção belíssima moldada com uma fantástica estrutura toda metálica em zinco veille-montaine, seguindo a tendência estética francesa, pré-fabricada e importada da Inglaterra e de Nova Iorque no século 19, durante o período áureo da borracha. “No meio de tanta exuberância temos as pessoas e temos uma conjunção de sons e ruídos que nos dá todo um recorte da riqueza do lugar que fica bem perto da Praça da Sé, que foi onde a cidade começou”, comenta.
Restaurado em 2000, o Ver-O-Peso reúne o mercado de carne, a peixaria e centenas de barracas oferecem os mais variados sabores e aromas do Pará para toda Belém que embarca e desembarca pessoas em um pier, que estende a vida da região pelo transporte fluvial. Esse meio de locomoção se destaca como um dos maiores meios de transportes do rico estado e proporciona esse fluxo de frutas, peixes, ervas medicinais, temperos, doces, essências e artesanato para todo o canto. “Com tanta movimentação de mercadorias às margens da baía, os faxineiros acabam sendo garças e urubus que convivem tranquilamente com pescadores que aportam neste porto na madrugada para realizar o comércio dos peixes. E, com isso, nós vemos as pessoas trabalhando, dormindo e se alimentando nos barcos em um cotidiano comum as pessoas da cidade”, enfatiza Carlos.
Para trazer a tona toda essa confluência natural do mercado, não foi aplicada nenhuma interferência no documentário “Ver-o-Peso” pelo seu criado, que buscou retratar de forma direta o dia a dia dessa imensa feira livre, o exotismo de produtos, as cores vivas de frutas exóticas e outras delícias regionais. Manteve-se assim o objetivo de representar este lugar cheio de cultura autêntica e a experiência inesquecível do raiar do sol em um dos maiores e principais pontos turísticos de Belém do Pará.
