Prefeitura do Jaboatão realiza replantio de vegetação nativa em praias do município
Funcionários da Secretaria Executiva de Meio Ambiente e Gestão Urbana (Semag) do Jaboatão dos Guararapes iniciaram um projeto de reintrodução de vegetação nativa nas dunas e praias do município. A iniciativa, realizada em parceria com a Secretaria Municipal de Desenvolvimento Urbano, é pioneira no país, e tem como objetivo manter a qualidade dos ecossistemas costeiros. De acordo com a superintendente da Semag, Edilene Rodrigues, o replantio será realizado nas praias de Piedade, Candeias e Barra de Jangada.
Segundo a gestora, as ipomeas — espécie que se prolifera em terreno arenoso — são fixadoras de dunas e evitam que a areia da praia vá para o asfalto. “Naturalmente, o vento varre a areia das praias para o calçadão. Por lei, essa areia não pode ser retirada do asfalto e devolvida à faixa da praia. Essa vegetação, entre outras funções, é importante para a proteção da orla em caso de ressaca. Além disso, animais como tartarugas ou aves utilizam essa vegetação para reprodução, alimentação e pouso”, explica Edilene.
“Foram identificadas espécies como mangue de botão, mangue branco, mangue preto e mangue vermelho que são suscetíveis nesse ecossistema e que serão usadas para o replantio”, adianta Rodrigues. “No caso das praias, foram plantadas cerca de 300 mudas de vegetação que estão sendo constantemente monitoradas, para avaliarmos se a técnica é passível de ser implementada em todo o litoral”, pontua. A ação, de fundamental importância para a total recuperação do bioma, também será aplicada às margens do Rio Jaboatão.
