País já registra 1.680 casos de sarampo em 11 estados; Pernambuco figura em terceiro
O sarampo se espalha pelo país. Da semana passada para cá, subiu de 4 para 11 o número de Estados que enfrentam surto da doença. Em três meses, foram confirmadas 1.680 infecções, a maior parte delas em São Paulo (1.662), seguido pelo Rio de Janeiro e Pernambuco. Com o aumento de registros, o Ministério da Saúde expandiu a recomendação da vacina a todos os bebês do País de 6 meses a um ano.
Batizada de dose zero, essa aplicação não dispensa as vacinas regulares, aplicadas aos 12 e 15 meses. Essa seria uma dose para dar proteção adicional.
Secretário de Vigilância em Saúde do Ministério, Wanderson Kleber de Oliveira não descarta que novas medidas sejam adotadas. Entre as estudadas, está a chamada vacinação de resgate, dirigida para adultos jovens. O problema, contudo, esbarra nos estoques escassos do imunizante.
Como a reportagem mostrou, o governo dispõe de quantitativo limitado de doses. O governo recorreu à Organização Pan-Americana de Saúde e encomendou a compra de 10 milhões de doses. A entrega, porém, deve ocorrer em dois meses.
A pasta também pediu a Biomanguinhos, que produz a vacina para o País, o aumento da entrega de doses. Para que isso seja feito, o laboratório terá de reduzir a produção de vacina contra febre amarela. Serão preparadas 26 milhões de doses para sarampo – 12 milhões já foram entregues.
Até o momento, não foi confirmada nenhuma morte por sarampo. Além de São Paulo, os casos da doença foram registrados no Rio (6), Pernambuco (4), Bahia (1), Paraná (1), Goiás (1), Maranhão (1), Rio Grande do Norte (1), Espírito Santo (1), Sergipe (1) e Piauí (1).
Embora o sarampo tenha ressurgido no País no ano passado, a cobertura vacinal está bem abaixo do que seria considerado ideal. “(A doença) é muito difícil de se controlar rapidamente”, afirma o pesquisador da Fiocruz Cláudio Maierovitch.
