Caruaru melhora desempenho no ranking de água e esgoto divulgado pelo Instituto Trata Brasil
O município de Caruaru, no Agreste do Estado, foi uma das cidades que mais cresceram no ranking do Instituto Trata Brasil, que avalia a cobertura de água e esgotamento sanitário dos municípios brasileiros. De acordo com os dados, Caruaru subiu 15 posições em comparação com o mesmo ranking do ano anterior e foi o único município do Nordeste a alcançar esse desempenho. Os outros são Aparecida de Goiânia, em Goiás, e São José dos Pinhais, no Paraná. Agora, Caruaru aparece com 53,23% de atendimento total de esgoto, contra 47,82% na pesquisa de 2018. Em relação à cobertura de água, a cidade manteve os 100% da mostra anterior.
O crescimento é resultado dos investimentos constantes realizados pelo Governo do Estado, por meio da Companhia Pernambucana de Saneamento – Compesa, em obras de abastecimento de água e melhorias no serviço de esgotamento sanitário no município. Segundo o ranking, o indicador de investimento/arrecadação da Compesa de 2019, em Caruaru, subiu para 47,90%. Em 2018, foi de 37,25%. Os números revelam o investimento de cerca de R$ 60 milhões da companhia no município em obras importantes como a construção da Adutora do Pirangi, para reforçar o Sistema do Prata e evitar o colapso da cidade.
Na área de esgotamento sanitário, a Compesa está investindo cerca de R$ 50 milhões em obras como a ampliação da Estação de Tratamento de Esgotos de Caruaru, além de requalificação do principal interceptor e de estações de bombeamento. Até o fim deste ano estará pronto o projeto de engenharia para deixar Caruaru 100% saneada com a ampliação da cobertura de esgotamento sanitário.
Segundo o presidente da Compesa, Roberto Tavares, Caruaru é uma cidade estratégica do ponto de vista econômico e geográfico e o resultado da pesquisa reflete o acerto do planejamento estratégico do Governo do Estado para melhorar a infraestrutura do município. ” Estamos colhendo os primeiros frutos da firme decisão do governador Paulo Câmara em priorizar o saneamento básico. Vamos continuar os investimentos com obras já em execução como a Adutora de Serro Azul e a Adutora do Agreste para dar segurança hídrica à população. E vamos dar início agora em agosto à implantação do sistema de esgotamento sanitário do Alto do Moura, berço do artesanato do barro que deu fama à cidade pela obra do Mestre Vitalino”, assegurou.
