Personagem criado por Adriano Marcena tem muitas características do herói moderno, que enfrenta dificuldades semelhantes a qualquer um de nós para poder ajudar a população.
Nascido na feira de Cabrobó, sertão franciscano de Pernambuco, Jandir Soares dos Santos, depois de vencer uma infância pobre, perder irmão e mãe, além de conviver com anemia aguda e passar por grande decepção amorosa, é convocado para seguir uma grande jornada: caçar os seres que deixavam o mundo mais desgraçado ainda.
Torando um aço da gota e pensando em desistir várias vezes daquela impossível jornada, Jandir ganha o mundo, assume a personalidade do Vampiro do Cordel, termina indo morar no Recife e passa a defender as pessoas e as cidades contra aqueles que ele chama „Sangue-ruim‟.
Suas primeiras histórias se passam em dez cidades pernambucanas, depois que assombrações do passado voltam a tocar terror entre as populações e ele aparece para pôr fim ao caos.
No Recife, a Perna Cabeluda ataca a cidade novamente para se vingar de todas as injúrias ditas pela geração passada.
Em Jaboatão dos Guararapes, o Lobisomem de Cajueiro Seco regressa à cidade e causa grande pânico.
Em Catende, a Mulher da Sombrinha retorna ao município e passa a levar novos homens ao cemitério para noites de orgia.
Já em Petrolina, o Negro d’ Água passa a engolir inteiros pescadores e funcionários públicos, causando desespero na população. Em Timbaúba, a Comadre Fulozinha destrói muitos prédios importantes para denunciar a destruição do meio ambiente.
Em Pesqueira, é a vez da Galega do Banheiro aparecer novamente no banheiro feminino das escolas e causar grande rebuliço na cidade.
Na cidade do Paulista o Palhaço do Coqueiro volta a atacar na Praia do Janga e deixa a população em polvorosa.
No Arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha a Alamoa reaparece e por pouco não afunda o turismo na badalada e paradisíaca ilha.
Em Caruaru, a famosa Galega da Cadisa reaparece e faz surgir movimentos de afirmação identitária, além de se tornar musa da semifinal do campeonato pernambucano de futebol.
O Papa-figo volta a levar terror à cidade de Garanhuns depois de realizar impiedosos ataques no dia da criança e espalhar o pânico ente os moradores.
Estas histórias foram reunidas no livro “As Aventuras do Vampiro do Cordel – contos hilários e razoavelmente assombrativos‟, cuja publicação recebeu incentivo do Funcultura e será lançada no dia 09 de novembro, às 19h, na Academia Pesqueirense de Letras e Artes, na cidade de Pesqueira.
O autor expõe que, em suas narrativas, “o Vampiro do Cordel defende causas muito nobres que fazem parte dos princípios universais de justiça na civilização ocidental”. Destaca, ainda, que por ser um personagem tão frágil quanto os humanos, mais dotado de alguns poderes, pode se fortalecer no imaginário social de forma muito forte. As ilustrações são de Vicente Simas e a produção de Rogério Generoso e Penha Pimentel.
Ao abordar temas contemporâneos como segurança pública, violência urbana, controle social e imaginário simbólico, a obra possibilita ser trabalhada em sala de aula, por expor as faces dos nossos medos mais inconscientes e revelar as frágeis linhas que tecem nossas barreiras sociais.
