Today’s episode: The human being arrives on planet Earth,
and corruption also evolves with it
As stated in previous articles, 130 thousand years ago the human being appeared on planet Earth as a product of the evolution described by the philosopher Thales of Miletus, and more recently by Charles Robert Darwin and his assistant, Alfred Russell Wallace, authors of the systematization of the Theory of Evolution.
In continents and countries of Jewish, Islamic, or Christian tradition, this theory does not find good acceptance, but it is not possible to deny archaeological and paleontological science, just to “get by with religion” and when it comes to being accountable to the labor market or to the academic world, ignore the facts that have been proven in each new excavation with archaeological finds.
Life took 4,3 billion years to appear in human form, and for the universe, more than 13,6 billion years to create it. However, when it appeared in the last 130 thousand years, the human made himself the master of the planet and above all species in order to follow its evolutionary path.
The proto-humans learned to walk upright, to emit grunts, to communicate through cave paintings with images of symbols and hieroglyphics; learned to speak, and between 7,000 and 6,000 years ago the Sumerian peoples began to develop cuneiform writing with symbols that represented words written on blocks of clay made with “wedges” or sharp objects.
The first human beings were nomads, that is, they moved whenever hunting, fishing, and other resources were exhausted in the environment in which they stopped. In all historical and religious traditions, the human path is permeated with an ethical judgment between good and evil, just and unjust, and, much later, between what is legal and what is illegal.
The human journey evolved from nomadism to a sedentary lifestyle when he discovered that settling in a certain place optimized his life, being able to produce more in less time, which somehow implied the discovery of leisure. This is how, by enclosing a piece of land, a plot of land and sowing, harvesting; storing, and haggling in it, humanity took another evolutionary leap, but it also began a relationship with the depletion of resources, some renewable others not.
From this new social dynamic, clans arise tribes that are structured in villages, and these into cities that became city-states, like the Greek ones, countries, and finally, in our modern versions of Federative Republics, ruled by democratic or dictatorial regimes.
If we intend to tell the history of humanity from its greatest empires such as the Egyptian, Babylonian, Medo-Persian, Alexandrian, Roman, Ottoman-Turkish, the eastern Mongolian of Termujin or “Genjis Khan”, a name that means “Lord of lords”; French Empire, Spanish, Portuguese, British and, finally, the North American Empire, we will undoubtedly identify a certain repetition of being born, developing and dying, and in the midst of all these stories permeated by thousands of cases of corruption.
If it is true we can tribute the ruin of many empires to the lack of skill to defend themselves, it is possible to say that the corruption of their political class is on the top of the list of the greatest mistakes they have committed.
Corruption is a word that means “to break something”, and its sign and meaning were never linked to something good.
No matter where it comes from, who it comes from, be it politics, religion, or everyday life, corruption can never and ever be linked to the good, the right; justice, honesty, or legality because it means the break of the ethical, the just, the honest and legal, that is, it is the destruction of the foundations of peace and the minimum of social dignity that our Constitutions and bills promises. All we have had are false political speeches. Fallacies, nothing than fallacies.
