Brazil celebrates this month, like “lilac August”. It’s the time of year to put even more emphasis on raising awareness of the importance of combating machismo and one of its deadly by-products, domestic violence.
I chose this month to launch the second edition in Portuguese and the third in Spanish, of my book “La mujer y su lucha épica contra el machismo ” because I am a feminist man, that is, I do not accept any superiority of men, in relation to woman.
The bad examples that I witnessed from an early age contributed and contribute to my deciding to think and act the opposite of males and, of course, to continue learning every day to evolve.
To the extent that, as a child and adolescent, I let myself be carried away by adult environments, I noticed that my father’s machismo, in addition to being a reflection of his will, was also a cursed inheritance impregnated in the tracks and sectors of his brain, by tradition, education, religion and way of life.
I have no doubt that machismo is the foundation on which we build our existential culture and, with the same certainty, I affirm that culture is changeable.
Machismo, which is at the heart of Politics, is useful and hardly combated by the Science of Law. It remains an instrument of domination and, in innumerable cases, of physical and psychological torture against women, who for centuries have tried to prove that they are human beings. Doesn’t it seem strange to question such a condition?
As my “observational laboratory” moved beyond my family group and my own country, I began to travel to various continents and observed that men, in general, feel superior to women. This is the psychological condition that defines machismo or chauvinism.
I saw that in some countries in Asia and Africa, women can be sold for large sums of money (dowry), but it can also cost less than the value of a chicken, sold in a small cage, at the fair, as is still the case in Rural China. These and other facts I describe in greater depth in my book.
Machismo was and continues to be present in the greatest empires of humanity. And if you think that the ancient Chinese emperors were extremely cruel, and how they are, their modern leaders, you have no idea what the next Chinese empire will be like, uniting the communist ideology that dominates it, with the force of capitalism, on which it feeds every day and night, like farm animals that eat non-stop.
From this struggle between dragons, communist and capitalist (perhaps from there “commutalism” will born), the hybrid that is emerging will become the worst of all those that have already flown over humanity.
Returning to the main issue, in this global situation in which men believe they are superior to women and oppress them from the domestic sphere to the labor market, do we expect that only women will speak out against machismo?
Will we let them protest and fight alone against this reductionist evil of their humanity?
After all, when a man takes the position of life to speak of the respect due to women, regardless of whether they are gay, black, indigenous, prostitute or executive, is that man out of his “speaking place”, of your “speaking place”?
