O perfil criminal demonstra considerável relevância para auxiliar a investigação criminal bem como na elaboração de pareceres de assistência técnica e exercício da investigação defensiva, e na prevenção de que apenados não reabilitados saiam do cárcere para voltar a praticar crimes violentos.
Embora o estudo denominado Criminal Profiling ainda esteja se desenvolvendo no Brasil, existindo mais fontes internacionais, como os estudos e catalogações do FBI- Federal Bureau of Investigation, temos grandes especialistas em perfis criminais em nosso país.
O trabalho multidisciplinar da Psiquiatria forense, Psicologia forense, Criminologia, Antropologia, Sociologia e demais áreas conexas são de grande relevância para um maior debate, formação do Geoprofiling e mapear a zona de conforto de criminosos como estupradores, homicidas, arrombadores e outros criminosos violentos.
Temos em nosso país um grande problema de Política Criminal. A análise de perfis criminais deveria iniciar desde o primeiro Incidente de Sanidade Mental do Acusado e/ou da condenação transitada em julgado por um crime violento, para que o perfil e as características do criminoso pudessem ser inseridos em um banco de dados nacional. Desta forma, o Princípio da Presunção de Inocência, previsto no Art. 5º da Carta da República/1988 não seria violado, pois esta avaliação não seria uma admissão de culpa pelo indiciado ou acusado e os especialistas poderiam criar uma rede de proteção contra criminosos violentos. Da mesma forma que existe o Banco de Dados de Perfis Genéticos, que também precisa ainda muito avançar, seria criado um de Perfis Criminais. Trabalhar sobre “arquivos mortos” de investigações criminais, processos criminais e de execuções penais é uma forma traçar perfis, mas existem meios mais eficazes, como descritos acima.
Voltando ao Geoprofiling, este estudo é tão importante, que até pode contribuir para o policiamento preventivo, uma vez que locais passíveis de estupros ou latrocínios, por exemplo, como praças pouco iluminadas, ruas desertas, praias e pontos turísticos em locais isolados poderiam ser maior foco da ação policial e eficaz proteção a população.
Traçar os perfis criminais tem conexão com inteligência policial, em suas variadas formas de atuação. Além do perfil geográfico, a análise mais ampla em presídios, manicômios, instituições para menores infratores e nos Juizados de Violência Doméstica contra a Mulher, para que um mapeamento fosse realizado sobre como ocorrer uma prevenção mais eficaz contra as mulheres vítimas de mentes criminosas. No tocante às Varas da Infância e Juventude e Conselhos Tutelares, o acesso a um banco de dados de perfis criminais seria de extrema utilidade para proteger crianças, as quais foram vítimas de maus tratos ou torturadas, não chegassem ao ponto de serem assassinadas.
Desvendar a Verdade muitas vezes incomoda, sendo indispensável que o Estado brasileiro invista na prevenção e inteligência em sentido amplo, como traçar os perfis criminais, pois se trata do caminho mais célere e humano para evitar que pessoas percam suas vidas bem como familiares sofram com a impunidade ou até inocentes sejam lançados ao cárcere, além do que o estudo de Mentes Criminosas é a única forma de evitar, por exemplo, que um psicopata retorne as ruas.
