O Aeroporto do Recife conta com um apoio especial no gerenciamento do risco de fauna. Aves de rapina são responsáveis por “vigiar” a área operacional do aeroporto, trazendo ainda mais segurança. São gaviões e falcões que têm como objetivo espantar ou capturar pássaros e outras aves invasoras que estejam colocando em risco as operações de pousos e decolagens em áreas próximas à pista do terminal.
O plantel conta com aves das espécies gavião-asa-de-telha (Parabuteo unicinctus) e falcão-de-coleira (Falco femoralis). “Todas as aves são legalizadas e provenientes de criadouros autorizados. Falcoeiros experientes realizam os treinamentos das aves para capacitá-las a atuarem de maneira segura no ambiente aeroportuário”, explica Regiane Ribeiro, Gerente de Meio Ambiente da Aena Brasil, administradora do aeroporto.
Os animais capturados pelos gaviões e falcões do aeroporto são direcionados para o Centro de Triagem de Animais Silvestres (CETAS). Por lá, eles passam pelos cuidados necessários e, posteriormente, são reintroduzidos na natureza, seguindo todas as recomendações, de acordo com o Plano de Manejo de Fauna do Aeroporto do Recife.
Não são apenas as aves de rapina que fazem o trabalho de evitar que outros animais frequentem o ambiente aeroportuário e causem risco às operações aéreas. No Gerenciamento de Risco de Fauna, a Aena Brasil atua baseada em três pilares: capacitação dos colaboradores, redução de estruturas e condições atrativas de fauna, e ações de controle de presença de animais no ambiente aeroportuário, afugentando e, quando necessário, capturando os animais.
O último pilar é desenvolvido por meio da atuação de uma equipe especializada em Gerenciamento de Risco de Fauna, composta por quatro profissionais da área de meio ambiente. “Nossos colaboradores atuam sete dias por semana desenvolvendo atividades de monitoramento de fauna e focos atrativos, identificação de vulnerabilidades, ações de afugentamento, falcoaria para dispersão e/ou captura de aves, além de palestras para a comunidade aeroportuária e do entorno do aeroporto”, pontua Regiane.
Além disso, o trabalho para evitar acúmulo de lixo no entorno dos aeroportos é importante para não atrair aves nas regiões. A Aena Brasil utiliza a Falcoaria desde o início das operações nos aeroportos do Nordeste, em 2020. A concessionária reforça ainda que toda e qualquer fonte de perigo é tratada, buscando minimizar os riscos associados, garantindo assim os mais altos níveis de segurança para as operações aéreas em seus aeroportos.
